WATER & WASTEWATER HOOKUPS

1. The Superintendent of Works must be present for inspection at the time of connection of any water or wastewater service lines and when work is completed.  (A 24-hour notice is required).  FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS REQUIREMENT WILL RESULT IN NO SERVICE UNTIL THE LINES ARE EXPOSED AND INSPECTED BY THE CITY.

 2. At the time of connection to the service lines, the Superintendent of Works will supply the contractor or applicant with a 3/4" water meter.  The meter is to be installed as early in construction as possible.  Installation should be horizontal at a location convenient for reading and with no by-pass or means of avoiding or altering.  The property owner is responsible for any repairs from the shut off to the home.  The City retains ownership of the meter and the right to inspection to assure compliance.

 3. A shut-off valve will be located near the property line on the water service to the building or site and must be at ground level.  The location must be approved by the Harwood Superintendent of Works at the time of connection.

 4. Monthly meter readings and payment will be submitted by the applicant or user.  At periodic intervals, the meters will be read and checked by a representative of the City.
