Clean up week scheduled

Mark your calendars for Clean Up Week on April 29th, 30th, and May 1st .  Here’s the schedule:

Monday, April 29: Everything on the West Side of Interstate

Tuesday, April 30: Everything on the East Side of Interstate, but West of the Railroad Tracks (middle of town)

Wednesday, May 1: Everything East of the Railroad Tracks

Rules for Clean-Up Week:

  1. Everything you intend to dispose of must be out by 7 a.m. on your pickup day. TRUCKS WILL ONLY PASS EACH STREET ONCE. 
  2. Pile items at end of driveways separating appliances from other debris for easier sorting and hauling. 
  3. Building materials will be collected, excluding concrete and dirt.
  4. No tires (including on bicycles)  or rubber material will be accepted. 
  5. Yard waste or compost will not be collected during Clean Up Week.  Those items can be taken to the grass clipping containers by the City Hall Shop in the Northwest corner of town.
  6. Doors must be removed from freezers and refrigerators. 
  7. All appliances that contain or ever contained Free-On will have an additional $50.00 charge.
    1. This charge to help offset the expense that Hazer’s charges the city to take appliances containing free-on.  Any resident who would like the City to take their free-on appliance away will be invoiced after clean-up week for the service.
  8. No items will be picked up that are on trailers or in the bottom of ditches. 
  9. No waste oil, paints, varnishes, or other household hazardous waste 
  10. No propane or fuel tanks
  11. No electronics (televisions, computers, etc.).  Those must be taken to the Household Hazardous Waste Facility (address at the bottom of these rules)
  12. No tree branches during clean up week
  13. This service is for Harwood city limits residents only paid for through residential waste and surcharge fees.
